The Sydney Football Stadium project, undertaken by Axis Plumbing from December 2019 to July 2022, required a specialised solution for the staircases. The challenge was to design a horizontal vermin grate that could effectively drain water while being lockable. This unique requirement necessitated a custom approach to ensure both functionality and security in a high-traffic area.
We customised our 100mm square (Q100SR) floor wastes to meet the project’s needs. We modified the product by removing the spigot and creating an opening at the base to allow water to pass through. This solution enabled the grate to be locked down with two screws and installed horizontally into the stairwells, ensuring effective drainage and security.
The custom-fabricated floor wastes provided an easy-to-install and cost-effective solution for the Sydney Football Stadium. This project highlighted our ability to tailor products to specific requirements, demonstrating our flexibility and collaboration with clients. The successful adaptation ensured the stairwells were equipped with secure, functional drainage, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the stadium’s infrastructure.
